What a country!

What a country and what a system! where a street rag picker child is sent to jail for stealing a bread but people like lalu yadav who misappropriated millions of rupees in the fodder scam, are rewarded with the post of cabinet minister.... where a clerk caught with 200 rupees bribe is immediately dismissed from duty but a minister seen taking bribe on national t.v is roaming around free and unharmed.... Where a government employee has to prove the source of income to the authorities for buying a new car but a person who came from a poor background, became minister and amassed huge wealth in crores of rupees is not asked a single question about his source of income... I fail to understand how the income of ministers,M.Ps and MLAs increase manifold in a matter of 12 months... If they have some investment secrets, they should share it with poor people of the country ....as a large portion of poor people are still trying their luck to be rich by investing in chit funds and lotteries,,, may be our leaders can show them a better way to be rich quickly...Well thats what we call"right to equality".... everybody has the right to be rich by hook or crook....whatever!

There are many examples of "success stories" in politics.... a woman from a poor background joined a small regional party and within a few years, that party won assembly polls in a state, that woman became the symbol of backward castes and poor people.... But just to fulfill the dreams of her poor voters, that woman had to move in to a multi crore mansion, though she never wanted to leave her poor house.... Thats ultimate sacrifice! the statues of that woman are being erected everywhere in that state just to boost tourism... she never wanted her statues to be erected, the people forced her because spending millions of govt money on statues will provide food and shelter to the poor!Alas... the supreme court interfered in this generous cause and the poor people have to be content with a few statues of their beloved "behenji"....

Madhu koda is a latest edition to the " public service and sacrifice group of companies" He sacrificed his integrity and honesty just for the sake of the people of Jharkhand and invested huge money in various states to boost the economy(?) of Jharkhand... The EOW( econimic offence wing) has spoiled the party.... poor people of Jharkhand are now wondering ,what a great CM we had?May be mr. Koda will get an offer from The IMF to be their econimic advisor.....

As long as we have the Lalus, kodas, mayawatis in our system we dont have to worry about our future because these elements will ensure we dont get any future at all!

The case of nationality....

The fatwa issued by darul ulum devband instructing muslims to refrain from singing the national song Vande mataram is very unfortunate and anti national.... the song which inculcated the the feeling of nationalism during our freedom struggle and united people from various religions, regions ,castes and creeds to fight against the british tyranny  has all of a sudden become a matter of debate... I fail to understand how singing of our national song can pose any threat to any religion ? I dont think praising our motherland can in anyway harm any religion... The song does not praise any particular religious deity which is wrongly presumed by the so called scholars of devband.

The fatwa issue is not only against the national pride of our country but it is also misleading the muslims.. This should be condemned by muslim scholars and learned people as it is setting a wrong example for the future generations.. Today the devband prohibits muslims from singing vande matram, may be tomorrow they will ask the muslims to stop paying respect to the indian tricolor, mahatma gandhi, father of the nation and the indian constitution as well....

The government should also step in ... there should be no leniency in matters related to national pride... suppose the  devband some day passes the resolution that they will adopt the national song of pakistan as their national song, will the government still be  a silent spectator? The devaband is not the only representative of millions of muslims in India... Its time for the nationalists muslims to come forward and speak against the Fatwa , and send a clear signal to dev band that it cannot dictate terms on national matters.... The need of the hour is to understand that india is our mother land , which gave birth to all of us and the mortal reamins of our ancestors also lies in this very land... so  to sing a song to praise our mother is not against any religion...As A.R. Rehmaan has sung"maa tujhe salaam"

Those who have objection to this song and this Nation  had been given opportunity to go to pakistan in 1947 and that option is still open..... Religion is a personal matter but nationalism is far bigger than religion... Those who have objections to Vande matram will object jan gan man some day on the basis of useless logic... These sort of tendencies should be curbed on its very onset or else it will aggravate into more serious anti national threat in the future.....We dont want this to happen

what kind of truth is this?

its pathetic to see the ugly face that our eletronic media is showing up....the recent additions to this degradation is the new reality show on star plus" sach ka saamna" which is not at all acceptable given the contenta nd the material they are portraying and the long term implaications on the new generation.... its hard to understand why the t.v channels have fallen to such low levels?the biggest excuse they give is "we show what the people want to see" .... But this excuse holds no ground at all because people willsee what ever the channels show and cant ban any content completely....
The name "sach kaa Saamna" is also misleading... its infact rewarding people for divulging their dark secrets most of them related to their private matters, the question asked in the show are cheap and vulgar and no person would like to see this program in his living room with the family.... such show on national t.v and that too on prime time is disappointing... the mere formality of the program producer to the warning before the start of the progarm does not make their crime small.... the producer, director and the channel should have some sense of responsibility towards the society... But the truth is its a game of TRps and increasing the revenue at the cost of values, ethics and culture...
The need of the hour is that the government should act as a regulating body and make a code of conduct for the t.v channels ..... if we can have censor board for cinema, why cant we have one for the T.V.?

where are we heading to?

it is sad to see that all newspapers and t.v channels are looking for t.r.p's...... instead of real news and making people aware of the problems and genuine issues, they are creating news just for the sake of increasing their respectivee circulation/viewership.....the fourth pillar of our democracy seems to have given way to superficiality and complacency... and its not a good sign. The real issues have taken the backseat and instead issues like which star is seeeing whom and which movie script is inspired from some old hollywood movie, which place is haunted by ghosts and useless stuff like that is seen everywhere .... its about time for the media to introspect and judge if these kind of news are going to help anyone? The media is losing its credibilty courtesy of this yellow journalism....
It was strange to see the media going crazy to cover unimpotant issues and going to any extent to get some live bites.... i wonder how sania mirza's engagement is going to effect a common man?or for that ,matter, how salmaan's new look or abhishek's rivalry with him is gonna make any difference to any of us.....its even sad to see media giving extensive coverage to mediocre people like rakhi sawant,
the role of media in mumbai attacks was also questionable, when our brave commandos were fighting out with the terrorists, the media was searching for sensational news and the government had to intervene in the matter and instructed them not to cover the operation live.....Instead of giving more exposure to movies, cricket ,fashion and crime, the media should understand the social responsibilty and pay attention to more importnat issues like poverty, unemployment, career building, inculcating patriotism and keeping a watch on the government's functioning... This creative role can change the destiny of our country and only then the fourth estate will justify its existence.....

series win in the carribean..... thanks to raingod...! the federer saga continues......!

thank god! team india wins the series in west indies ....dhoni must thank rain gods for it as it played a vitl part in the third one day which was curtailed due to rain.... and eventually india won courtesy msrs duckworth - lewis and co. anyway 2-1 series win is yet another series win abraod....third in a row for captain dhoni...... good going!
the mammoth final at the wimbledon centre court last night was yet another historic moment in the greatest tennis event of the world....and the great man roger fderer proved it once again why he is called the king of wimbledon centr court....winning the trophy for the fifth time and also winning his 15 th grandslam title eclipsing pete sampras' 14 win record.... and fittingly enough the former champ sampras was present at the wimbledom n witnessing history being made........ this might provide some solace to federer who lost last year's final to nadal in cliff hanger 5 setter stretching over 5 hours.....

what about other sports?

kudos to saina nehwal for winning the indonesian open badminton tournament.....and to indian womens hockey team for winning the champions challenge tournament at kazaan russia... congrats to indian wrestler sishil umar for winnning two gold medaks in world series....
all the three success stories have one thing in common.... they were neglected when they arrived home after their respective triumphs......! this is the bitter reality of indian sports... not even the emebers of the respective sports' bodies cared to welcome these champions at the airport when they arrived home after making india proud....
now the other side of the picture.... remeber the indian cricket team's arrival after winning the t 20 world cp in south africa in 2007..... remeber that rainy day in mumbai when literally all the mumbaikars thronged the roads braving the rains to welcome the heroes... the whole city came to a stand still with traffic jam as the team was lead to the stadium in open bus roof.....and the frenzied fans following them all the way...!
the above two contrasting pictures disappoint me as a sports lover .... Why we fail to recognise success in non cricketing sports?we all are responsible partly.... for we give heroes status to cricketers and second class treatment to other sports persons.....there are many great champions who never got their due credit because of the cricket euphoria... leander paes, mahesh bhupathy, Vishwanathan Anand, Jeev Milkha singh, rajyavardhan rathore, abhinav bindra and the list goes on.... This has lead to two phenomena 1. sponsors and corporate houses also neglecting these sports and investing in cricket as it is more lucrative and popular... 2. youngsters also taking cricket as a sporting option as they find other sports less glamourous and lesser money involved in them.....
and this has resulted in our sporting failures as well.... a country with 120 crocre people wins just 3 medals at olympics and fails to qualify for olympics in hockey which is sadly our national sports....! Whereas small countries like Japan, jamaica, korea, win truckloads of medals.... we indians are happy to be just ex olympians rather than olympic medalists as this would guarantee a job somewhere....Adding insult to injury, nearly all the sports bodies are headed by politicians who never played that sport in their entire life.... they use these as a launch pad to their political ambitions and are least bothered about the upliftment of that sport....THats what happened to the Indian Hockey federation which was ruined by the dictatorship of mr. KPS gill .... and the secratary Mr jyotikumaran who was caught on camera accepting bribe for a place in the team.....
that sums up the whole picture......
inspite of all the criticisms against cricket being the spoilsport for other sports,it is also to be accepted that the BCCi and its democratic structure are also responsible for the popularity of the game in India.... so the other boards should take a cue from them.......

what is the BCCI doing?

Cricket has become more of business rather than entertainment , and the impact shows on the recent series of cricket tours and tournaments beong played continuosly without any break....turning the players into money earning machines,,...... this has given rise to unfit players not disclosing their fitness woes to the board fearing that they might lose out on big money and sponsorship once they are out of the team....thats what happened with sehwag and Zaheer khan recently when they carried their old injuries into the t 20 world cup, and team india had to pay the price ...
the richest cricket board in the world....BCCI, has strange idiosyncrasies... the board does not thikn players' fatigue is a factor .... where as it showed in the team's performance in the recent past that the players badly need a long recovery break....
the team is playing a 4 match one day series in the carribean which i think is unneccesary as the team has just played a long t 20 world cup preceeded by even longer 59 match IPL season 2.... and just before that the team was in new zealand where they played 2 teasts, 4 onedayers and 2 t 20 matches ...... even before that team india had a series against sri lanka in sri lanka and against southafrica and england at home....
I wonder what the BCCI think tank is thinking? It is time to sacrifice small business intersts for the long term intersts of indian cricket and give our team a break so that the injiry list can be minimised....at present the list is long...... sehwag, raina, zahir, tendulkar are out due to injuries though the selection committee says that they have been given a break for personal reasons, but the inside story is different... captain dhoni also seemed to struggle with fitness niggles as was clearly evident in the one dayers against the West indies....My advice to the Board is not to kill the hen that lays golden eggs and try to get all the eggs at once, rather enjoy the fruits for a longer time....! hope some good sense prevails!

T 20 goes to Pakistan

well.... as promised, the t 20 world cup came up with more surprises than ever... the underdogs who were written off by most experts went on to win the covetted trophy... pakistan was never in the fray but unexpectedly it won the cup beating the mighty lankans who were unbeaten through out the tournament... as i pointed out in by earlier blog post that pakistan is the most unpredictible team in the world and rightly so the men in green showed they are ..... a few months ago pakistan cricket was thrown into the turmoil with attack on sri lankan team at lahore ... and strangely , the two teams involved in that incident were in the finals of the t20 world cup... this seemed pre ordained by destiny... and this is the fitting culmination of all the events that unfolded... this victory is a shot in the arm not only for the pakistan cricket but also for the pakistani paople who had nothing to cheer for almost last 2 years as the country is witnessing the worst phase in its history with threats from the terror outfits and attacks every second day.... The heroes for opakistan in this world cup were shahid afridi ,who bowled well initially and later in the semi final and finla shoed his batting prowess to dazzle the cricket field... umar gul picked up 13 wickets and the off spinner saeed azmal with 12 wickets were main contributers.... not to forget the role of captain cool yunus khan ,who was confident about his selection and also adamant to a certain degree when he pressurised the selectors to send abdul razzaq in to replace the injured yasser arafat .... and razzaq proved his captain right by taking 3 wickets in the final....
Sri lankans played great cricket upto the finals but faltered when it really mattered.... but it does not take anything away from this grt island nation which continues to bring new talents .... there are a lot of positives for sri lanka from this world cup... the emergence of tillekeratne dilshan as an explosive opener(dilshan was top scorer of the tournament with 317 runs and was awarded the man of the series), the discovery of isuru udana , angelo mathews and jehan mubarak will strenthen their side too..... above all the captaincy of sangakkara was good too... tillkeratne dilshan's trademark shot over the keeper's head will always be remebered by fans.... and from now on this shot may be called dilshan shot....
this tournament destroyed the established myth that t20 is all about batsmen .... the bowlers like umar gul, ajmal, malinga, mendis, afridi etc proved the theory wrong.... from now on the teams will have different approach to the t 20.... the t 20 version is a new one and is still evolving so there might be few more theories to come up and surprise us in the future.... one thing is for sure....t 20 is the most entertaining form of cricket and i just get the feeling that it is going to harm 50 over cricket in the long run, exactly the way 50 over cricket did to test cricket 3 decades ago.....
talking abt south africa, i am really sad that the proteas yet again fell prey to the semi final zinx and gave in tamely to the comparatively weaker team, without giving any fight .... The cricket south africe should look into the psychological aspect of the whole issue ....why the team loses inspite of being hot favourites..?? there are many more questions asked and believe me they wont be easy to answer for the proteas think tank.....
Pakistan winning the world cup is in a sense nature's justice too....bcoz last time they lost inspite of the wonderful performance by misbah ul haq... so this would compensate the loss of 2007 w cup....and misbah will sleep easy now,as i i know the poor guy would hav had a terrible time after the failure at 2007 cup.... with the frentic pakistani fans are very emotional and impulsive ............

India will hav a tough time in west indies as the team is struggling with injuries and zahir, sachin, sehwag and raina missing out the tour owing to injuries courtesy I.P.L.
so wait n watch..... the team india and its captain should always remeber that "just when u think that u hav got the game in ur grip, the game gets you" so nothing is bigger than the game... no individual is indispensable.... right mr dhoni?so change urself or u will be changed......

India ends it t 20 world cup with yet another defeat

The Indian chase had self-destruction written all over it. 130- A target definitely tiny by T20 standards was what India needed on the surpass. India began well with openers Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma getting off to a brisk start hitting boundaries regularly off the fast bowlers to take India to 48/0 in 6.2 overs.

Graeme Smith soon played the ‘spin’ card calling in Johan Botha who struck immediately removing Gautam Gambhir for 21.India then lost some quick wickets with Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma playing some reckless shots. India at 56/3 before the halfway-10 over mark.

They then chugged along to 67/3 when disaster struck; M.S Dhoni run-out for 5 courtesy a misunderstanding with Yuvraj Singh. Yusuf Pathan also chose to be a part of ‘the series of unfortunate events’ offering a simple catch to AB de Villers off Van der Merwe to leave without troubling the scorers. India were now looking extremely shaky at 69/5. Like South Africa India had self-destructed after a good start and also failed to read the slow bowlers.

With 60 required off 35 balls Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh struck a few boundaries to offer a faint hope of victory. But then Murphy’s Law seemed to be in operation. Harbhajan Singh called for a runner after being struck on the heel. Voila! In came Dhoni, unfortunately he didn’t have much running to do as Harbhajan Singh fell soon for 14. When India’s last big hope Yuvraj Singh went caught behind for 25, defeat looked imminent. Eventually the number 12 proved to be the losing margin.

Earlier South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. With the score at 13, opener Herschelle Gibbs had just one stump standing behind him after an inside edge from his Glenn and Moore blade saw R.P Singh picking up India’s first wicket. His replacement AB de Villiers decided to attack from the start and with skipper Graeme Smith for company brought up South Africa’s fifty in 6.3 overs.

Dhoni introduced Harbhajan Singh who had Graeme Smith caught after the South African skipper’s attempt at clearing the mid wicket boundary only resulted in a top-edge that found the cupped hands of Ravindra Jadeja. South Africa were then at 59/2 in 8.3 overs. With India’s spinners gaining control, AB de Villiers kept one end tight bringing up his half-century.

M.S Dhoni then brought about his eighth bowling change in the form of Suresh Raina. Dhoni himself stumped J.P Duminy to justify the move. The pitch was clearly offering turn and the South African batsmen were finding it hard to find the boundaries. Consequently AB de Villers found himself suffocated for the want of boundaries and was out caught and bowled to Ravindra Jadeja for a 51 ball 63.The scoreboard at Trent Bridge read 110/4.

Zaheer Khan had keeper-batsman Mark Boucher caught by Rudra Pratap Singh at long-off in the final over as South Africa finished their innings at 130/5.

A total one felt would be a cake-walk. Instead of eating it India chose to throw it and slip over.

Mendis (3/9) ran through New Zealand's middle order to trigger a batting collapse as the Kiwis, in their pursuit of a 159-run victory target, were bundled out for 110 runs in 17 overs.

It was an abject batting capitulation by the New Zealand with just three batsmen; Martin Guptill (43 off 34 balls), Aaron Redmond (23) and Brendon McCullum (10) -- managing double figures as their last eight wickets fell for just 48 runs.

Earlier opting to bat, Mahela Jayawardene struck an unbeaten 41 while Tillakaratne Dilshan's made a classy 48 to help Sri Lanka post 158 for five on the board.

Defending the total, Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara's experiment to start with Sanath Jayasuriya did not really click as Redmond got New Zealand off to a flier, picking up 14 runs of the third over.

Redmond clobbered Jayasuriya for three successive boundaries and then followed it up with a six over long-off.

But Isuru Udana struck gold in the next over, getting the crucial wicket of McCullum, caught by Jehan Mubarak.

Lasith Malinga then foxed dangerous Redmond with a slower full toss and Chamara Silva made no mistake to end the right-hander's 13-ball stay. Mendis then proved why he is regarded so highly in world cricket, getting the wickets of Ross Taylor (8) and Scott Styris (2) in his opening over to deal twin blows.

He foxed Taylor with his first ball of the match and Sangakkara completed an easy stumping and then disturbed Styris' timber with the fourth delivery.

Guptill, however, carried on the fight single-handedly and hit Dilshan over the short long-off fence.

Udana struck in the last ball off the 13th over, clean bowling Jacob Oram and then Jayasuriya drived the final nail in New Zealand's coffin, getting the vital wicket of Guptil caught by Angelo Mathews at deep backward square leg.

Mendis picked up his third wicket when he made Peter McGlashan to edge one straight to Mubarak at backward point.

As if it was not enough, Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills ran themselves out and then Daniel Vettori fell to Muttiah Muralitharan.

Earlier electing to bat, Sri Lanka made a disastrous start to their innings, losing the dangerous Jayasuriya in the very first over.

Vettori's ploy to start the proceedings with off-spinner Nathan McCullum worked wonders as Jayasuriya feel to the trap, top edging a sweep to Ross Taylor at short fine leg.

Next man in Chamara Silva hit Mills for two boundaries before perishing, caught at mid-on by Jacob Oram off the pacer's second over. Sangakkara and in-form Dilshan then shared a 47-ball 62-run fourth wicket stand to bring back the Lankan innings on track.

Dilshan was going great guns and struck Ian Butler for three boundaries in the sixth over. He struck five fours in his 48-run innings that came off 37 deliveries before Vettori outsmarted him in the 12th over.

After Dilshan's dismissal, Sangakkara took the onus of guiding the Sri Lanka innings in his own hands and played the role of a sheet anchor as new man Jayawardene donned the hat of aggressor.

Jayawardene made it clear that he was not there to hang around and lofted Vettori straight over his head off a free-hit delivery to mark his arrival. He hit Mills for three consecutive fours in the 16th over to up the tempo.

When it looked the duo would ensure a big score for Sri Lanka, Vettori once again broke the dangerous looking partnership, picking up Sangakkara but not before the Lankan skipper had made a useful run-a-ball 35 that was studded with three fours.

Vettori was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers with two wickets, while Butler, Nathan McCullum and Mills scalped a wicket

20 20 world cup

The 20-20 world cup in england has thrown quite a few surprises for the fans....first england was beaten by The Netherlands in a cliff hanger , followed by west indies humbling the outspoken aussies in a one sided match, thanx to chris gayle's scintillating batting.... Now with Sri Lanka knocking the Aussies out of the World cup,the thrill is at its pinnacle......India started off its campaign well with a win over bangladesh and the team looked in good shape inspite of all fitness worries and rumors of rift between Dhoni and Sehwag.... though Zahir jkhan ddnt look 100 % fit.... i was pleasantly surprised with the eprformance of Pragyaan ojha, who really bowled well and wasnt afraid to toss the ball, which harbhajan has forgotten of late... Yuvraj's cameo innings was the turning point of the game .... because at one point india didnt seem to reach 150 to say the least... but yuvi set the tone with his breath taking shots all over the park. With Rohit Sharma doing well up the order, dhoni should not be worried about the opening pair inspite of viru's unexplained fitness problems?? Irfan pathan looked out of form...ever since he lost his swinging ability, irfan has looked very ordinary.. its about time for him to introspect at get back to the basics before its too late... I hope he comes out of it.... Gambhir also struck some form iin the match against Bangladesh, though he is still not that threatening as he was a season ago.... India has a dangerous middle order with likes of Dhoni,YUvraj, Raina, Yusuf and irfan... on its day this batting order can demolish any bowling attack.... india,s next fixture is against Ireland, which India should win comfortably, but they should not be compalcent against Ireland, who have defeated Bangladesh and qualified for the Super 8s.... Dhoni should be aware of the fact that the team should maintain the winning momentum..... winning is a habit and it should be continued ...

super 8 scenario has changed big time, much to the surprise of cricket pundits .... with Australia being knocked out and also bangladesh beaten out of the competition by ireland.... even pakistan is also on the verge of elimination if they dont beat holland comprehensively... if this happens the tournament will become more interesting ... India, Ireland, West Indies, Sri lanka, South Africa,New Zealand and England are already thru to the super 8 stage..... todays match between Pakistan and Netherlands will decide the 8th team... I personally want Pakistan to qualify as it would add the flavour to the tournamnet as pakistan is the most unpredictible team in the world, they can be brilliant one day and very mediocre the very next day....

From the present scenario it seems India will have a tough group in super 8 with west indies, england and South africa.... whereas the second group will consist of Sri lanka, new zealand, ireland and possibly pakistan... well the picture will be clearer tonight..... everything said and done, its going to be a thrilling roller coaster for all the fans in the next week and a half as we will see sizzling display of instant cricket ... 20-20 is hotting up now and so are the teams for the next stage.... so folks! sit back and enjoy the extravaganza... may the best team win! all the best to the men in blue!

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class walking home from school. His name was raja . It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a cricket with my friend the following afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes.My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him, and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, I saw a tear in his eye.I handed him his glasses and said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives." He looked at me and said, "Hey, thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. It turned out he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before coming to this school.I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play cricket on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung all weekend and the more I got to know raja, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was raja with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Damn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!". He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, raja and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think about college.raja decided on delhi, and I was going to jaipur. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a scholarship.raja was valedictorian of our class.I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.Graduation day arrived - I saw raja and he looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than me and all the girls loved him!Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began. "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach... but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story."I stared at my friend in disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize its depth.Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse. God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others."Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

haan, shahrukh se yaad aya aajkal shahrukh khan sunil gavaskar ki buraai kar rahe hai....shayd wo bhul rahe hai ki sunny gavaskar tab se super star hai jab shahrukh paida bhi nahi huve .....aise super star ka apmaan karna ye dikhata hai ki saflata shahrukh ke sir chadh gayi hai....time to payback the favour guys! i think aamir was right in naming his dog.....!
